LATENT Diary is a private digital space designed to preserve the important parts of a person's life and family history — people, relationships, places, memories, documents, photographs and other personal records — in a structure that can grow with generations.

Life is not a straight line. It is a network of people, families, places, events and memories.

Life Archive is being designed to preserve that network.

LATENT Diary  is intended to bring together:

• People and relationships — family members, relatives, friends and other important people

• Family heritage — relationships presented through a natural heritage-tree structure

• Life events and memories — important moments and experiences

• Places — homes, workplaces, schools and other significant locations

• Changing addresses — a person may have multiple places associated with different periods of life

• Documents and files — important personal records and memories

• Photographs and other media

• Independent branches of life — unrelated people or groups can exist independently without forcing everything into one visible family structure

• Private information — sensitive material can be kept separately from ordinary life records

LATENT Diary is being designed so that these changes can be recorded rather than replacing the history that came before them.

Privacy at the centre

Personal history can contain some of the most sensitive information a person possesses.

LATENT Diary is therefore being designed with privacy and controlled access as fundamental principles rather than as features added later.

The application is also being developed with a separate protected area for particularly sensitive personal files and information.

Early development

LATENT Diary is currently in early development/testing.

The present testing version is an initial application shell. Features will be introduced progressively as development continues.

The information on this page describes the intended direction of the application and should not be interpreted as a statement that every described feature is available in the current testing build.
