At FinBillion Ventures, we believe privacy is especially important when creating products for children, families, educators, and schools.
Bryttt is designed to provide an engaging educational news experience while respecting user privacy, promoting transparency, and minimising unnecessary collection of personal information.
This Privacy Policy applies only to the Bryttt application and its related services.
Other products developed by FinBillion Ventures have their own Privacy Policies.
Depending on the features you use, Bryttt may process limited information such as:
Bryttt does not require an account. FinBillion Ventures does not collect personal information from children or parents, and the app does not send it to a FinBillion server.
Stored on the device only:
• Child profile: a name or nickname, an emoji avatar, an age band and, if entered, a curriculum choice and class join code.
• Learning data: reading progress, quiz and chapter-practice results, streaks, badges and bookmarks.
• Parent settings: a Parent PIN and a security question. The PIN and the answer are kept only as irreversible hashes.
• App settings such as language.
This information stays on the phone until a parent deletes the profile or the app is uninstalled.
The app contains no advertising, no analytics and no tracking tools, and it does not use the advertising ID.
News, images and science content come from outside publishers and agencies, for example NewsAPI, NASA, NOAA, BBC, Deutsche Welle, RFI, The Hindu, the Press Information Bureau and OneIndia. The app connects to those servers directly, so they can see the device's IP address. Short videos (Reels) play in the YouTube player, and YouTube may collect data under Google's own privacy policy. Articles pass through a content-safety filter before they are shown.
Most translation runs on the device using Google ML Kit. Its language packs are downloaded once from Google. For Malayalam, the headline and summary of a public news article, together with the language pair, are sent to the MyMemory translation service (api.mymemory.translated.net). Nothing a child typed, and no name or profile data, is sent. The service can see the device's IP address. Please do not paste personal or confidential text into any translation feature.
Bryttt is free. It has no advertisements, no in-app purchases and no subscriptions. Each copy of the app works for one year from the day it is first used on a device. After that year the app stops working on that device. Updating the app, or uninstalling and reinstalling it, does not start a new year. Schools and organisations that need more time can write to support@finbillion.com.
To protect the one-year limit, the app sometimes asks www.finbillion.com for the current date and time, at most once every six hours while it is in use. This is an ordinary web request. The server can see the device's IP address. No profile, child or news-reading data is sent.
To keep the one-year period from restarting, the app's activation dates (the day of first use and the last day seen) may be saved by Android's backup. Nothing else is backed up. Child profiles, progress, results, the Parent PIN and the security answer are never included. Whether the dates come back after a reinstall depends on the phone's backup settings, so this cannot be guaranteed.
Depending on the features you choose to use, Bryttt may request access to:
Internet access: to load news, images and translations.
Network state: to check whether the phone is online.
Notifications (optional, Android 13 and later): to show streak reminders. They are scheduled on the device and nothing is sent from a server. You can turn them off in Android Settings.
Bryttt does not ask for your location, contacts, camera, microphone, photos or files. (to retrieve current news and educational resources).
Permissions are requested through your device's operating system and can be managed in your device settings.
Bryttt is designed for children and families. It shows no advertisements, does not use the advertising ID, does not track children and does not build advertising profiles. It never asks a child for an email address, phone number, address, photo or location. A parent creates the profile and controls it with a Parent PIN.
Parents can delete a child profile in the app at any time, without sending us an email:
1. Open Bryttt and tap Parent in the bottom bar.
2. Tap the profile card at the top. This opens Switch Profile.
3. Find the child's name and tap Delete Profile.
4. Enter your Parent PIN.
The profile, its progress and its results are removed from the device straight away. Uninstalling the app removes all other data stored by Bryttt on the device.
School Edition is in early access. Teacher name, school name, email address, classroom lists and any student names a teacher enters are stored on the teacher's device. Cloud synchronisation is not active in this version of the app, and no teacher or student information is sent to a FinBillion server. If cloud synchronisation is introduced later, this page will be updated before it is switched on.
Bryttt is free and has no purchases or payments. It connects to the services described under News Content, and it uses Google ML Kit for on-device translation and the YouTube player for Reels. Each service has its own privacy policy. Bryttt contains no advertising or analytics service.
These providers operate under their own privacy policies.
We apply reasonable technical and organisational measures designed to protect information handled by Bryttt.
Users are encouraged to keep their devices updated and protected with appropriate security measures.
Information is retained only for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the requested functionality, comply with applicable legal obligations, or improve the application.
Locally stored information remains under the user's control. It is kept until a parent deletes the profile, the app's storage is cleared or the app is uninstalled.
We do not hold child or parent information on our servers. If you write to us, we keep your email and our reply for as long as needed to answer you and keep a record of the request, and for no more than 24 months.
We respond to privacy and deletion requests within 30 days.
A parent can delete a child profile in the app at any time. Full steps are on the Bryttt Account Deletion page: https://www.finbillion.com/bryttt-account-deletion. To ask a question or make a request, write to support@finbillion.com.
This Privacy Policy may be updated periodically to reflect improvements to Bryttt, changes in applicable laws, or updates to our privacy practices.
The latest version will always be available on the FinBillion Ventures website.
